Yesterday I went to a BBQ at Bowness Park. It sounded like a fun event, so I brought along my Canon EOS 20D not knowing what to expect.

Throughout the day, I found these tips I’ve learned from various sources to be really really useful. These are also geared towards intermediate digital camera owners (break out of automatic mode if you haven’t done so already!)

PicLens LogoPicLens is currently a Safari-only extension in its beta stages with Firefox and IE versions said to be in the works. It adds interactivity to most of the popular photo spots on the web by allowing you to convert your experience of browsing through a gallery of thumbnails, into a more cinematic one. The most notable feature of this extension is the ability to see photos in full-screen that is just a click away. What’s even more special is that when Piclens displays the photo in full-screen, it seems to be able to access the highest resolution photo available, even if the author wishes to restrict access to higher resolutions of their photo.

Back in January, I helped out with the University of Calgary’s websites by migrating existing static pages over to Drupal. While there, my supervisor wished to change a few banner images as the old ones were a little stale. I offered some photographs I took for them to use and I’m happy to see that they’re using them on the Prospective and Current Students sections of their website.

Avenged Sevenfold Live in Calgary

A couple of photos from the Avenged Sevenfold show on September 9th.

Tonight I went to go see the Globalfest Fireworks at Elliston Park. I didn’t feel like forking over $15 to buy a ticket so I took the free route by standing outside the fences and parked my tripod and got ready to take some photos of some fireworks.

Time Crisis 4, Canoeing

As I was heading out of work, I usually pass by the arcade at the University as I’m heading towards the ATM. That’s when I noticed that there was a machine that didn’t belong…

Then, me and my buddies went canoeing.
