Can HD DVD and Blu-ray Coexist?

For those who have been keeping up with the latest drama on the new hi-def formats, you probably know that the backing behind HD DVD and Blu-ray by the movie studios is almost neck and neck. Although this standstill probably won’t last long, what if the movie industry started playing out exclusivities like the video game industry? Could HD DVD and Blu-ray coexist?



Ars Technica has reported that the Copyright Board of Canada is pushing again for an “iPod Tax”. Some might remember a similar $40 levy that was introduced a while back but then was quickly shot down. The proposed levy would apply to digital media players such as iPods and is supposed compensation for artists whose music is being illegally shared.

New Job

For the past few months, I’ve been mostly kicking it back and enjoying the summer. Besides the relaxing part which comprised of hanging out with friends, playing video games and spending sometimes too much time just surfing the web, I’ve also been freelancing. Around the middle of June, I was approached by Foundpages, an online marketing firm, to see if I could help out their design team take some of the workload off their back. However, about a week before I started freelancing for Foundpages, I applied for job at Critical Mass, a popular interactive services firm as I was unemployed then and was still looking for a job to keep me busy during the summer…



I’ve finally finished up my ‘Wii Friend Number‘ Facebook application and released it to the public. This app allows you to easily share your Wii Friend/Console Number with your friends on Facebook.



Yesterday, I took on the challenge of developing an application for Facebook. The application I created is called ‘Wii Friend Number’, and it allows you to easily share your Wii console number with your friends.



Back when I was giving away free Joost invites, there certainly was a lot of buzz about this application. However, it seems to have quieted down and last night I had a chance to see what has updated with Joost.

There are a lot of new programs and channels since the last time I used it. It’s nice to see some of the 2007 NHL playoff games available as well. However, one major part of Joost has changed for me, and that is its performance.
