SEM Canada Conference

April 14, 2008

About a month ago I helped develop a WordPress theme for the SEM Canada blog and its sister blog Search Engine Marketing Insights. Now that the sites have officially launched now, I thought I’d share this upcoming event. By volunteering my efforts, I was also invited to go to the conference which occurs in early September in my hometown of Calgary.

It will be my first conference I attend and I hope to come out of it being more enlightened on the strategies and tactics of search engine marketing.

Although I think I’ve grasped the basics of search engine marketing/optimization I feel I have lots to learn about it as I spent months battling it out on google.com trying to get spot #1 when searching my full name. It’s definitely an important concept to understand as a web developer since search engine optimization on a site begins once you enter the first line of markup. Search engines are much more sophisticated these days and piling on keywords in a meta tag won’t cut it anymore.

If you plan on attending the conference, hope to see you there!

Thanks for all your hard work Sam, you did an awesome job on coding up that skin. We’re totally looking forward to having you down at the conference.
