Facebook Gives Grants To App Startups

The man behind Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Facebook recently held a keynote announcing a new initiative called fbFund. This $10 million fund backed by Accel and Founders Fund can be dispersed in grants ranging in the amounts of $25 to $250 thousand.
This is a really motivating move by Facebook which will certainly drive more developers and internet businesses to look into creating more useful Facebook applications with intent for business. It has certainly got me excited as I’ve already got my feet wet with the Facebook API.
I’d like to take a stab at developing a useful facebook application besides just something that displays a number. However, it’s a hard task to come up with something that hasn’t been done already. If you’d like to donate an idea, feel free to send it my way.
Also, if you have an idea for a facebook app in mind and want to apply for a grant, you can email it to platform@facebook.com. In coming weeks, there should be a more formal application process on the site.
