So far in my program I've had to deal with programming for Java, SPARCs Assembly, C++, and C. The thing is that you can do all your coding on any platform; even Windows or Linux. When it comes time to compiling, you end up SSHing into a box they have set up at the university, this is especially true for when coding for a language like SPARCs Assembly where the code you will be typing up is processor specific. At the end of the day, any platform you end up with will be fine. If anything, you can't really go wrong with a mac nowadays since it can also run Windows and Linux. The thing that scares me is will it help with IT? Because this is the field i am going into when i start university.
