During the month of December I had a goal of purchasing a new Mac. So I saved up, and I purchased a new 17″ iMac.

My new iMac
Gotta love my new setup

It might seem a little nuts that one guy should need so many computers but ever since I got my iBook, I now prefer to work in Mac OS X over Windows. I was starting to realize the limitations with my iBook (the resolution of the display was too small at times for graphic design), and I also needed something a little faster. I saved up some money while working over the holiday break and when my dad gave me the call that he found a 17″ iMac at Future Shop at a discounted price, I had to go for it.

When I got around to using it for the first time, I have to say that it exceeded my expectations. It’s speedy, the 17″ display will bring a huge productivity boost and I love the little novelties such as the built in iSight, Front Row and it even has speakers!

Sam, great purchase. I’m looking at getting a MacBook Pro 17″ myself together with a 20″(or bigger) cinema display to connect to while at home. One of my friends showed me the refurbd MAC site a few days ago, literally saves ya thousands of dollars. But I suppose Future Shop could be comparable. Anyways - you’re a mac geek!

The MacBook Pro (will be abbreviated as MBP from this point on) is a fine laptop, pairing it up with a 20″(or greater) Cinema Display would be sweet!

Hopefully they include the adapter to hook up an external display in the MBP if you purchase it. It’d be a hassle if Apple didn’t.

I’m not sure if a refurbished MBP would save you thousands of dollars though, probably hundreds at most. ‘Tis a good way to save though.
