New iPhone Details Emerge

iPhone Patent DrawingThe so-called iPhone is starting to look like a reality. Rumors of this hopeful device from Apple started going around approximately 6 years ago and now it looks like it is finally scheduled for release at the beginning of next year.

iPhone Patent Drawing

Just recently, news popped up of Apple filing patent drawings for the iPhone. It looks a lot like an iPod but inside sources say this thing is going to be pretty damn sleek. Some specifications have also been leaked:

  • The phone will have 2 batteries, one battery dedicated to the phone, the other for the mp3 player. This is a great idea because the last thing you want is a dead phone after using it to play your tunes.
  • It will come in two capacities, a 4GB version which is said to retail for $249 USD and an 8GB version which should retail for $449 USD.
  • Apparently there will be a slide-out keyboard which will be a time saver for text messaging and other possible text applications you can use with the phone.
  • It has also been rumored that the outside screen will be touch-screen.

In regards to the looks, we can only base how the phone will turn out based on the patent drawings at this point. However, thanks to myiphone.com, they’ve found a fan mockup of the device which looks pretty darn similar to the patent drawings. I’d expect the final product to look pretty close to this:
