This is not a followup to my previous rant, instead this is about my iBook. What does Sony have to do with my Apple iBook? The battery.

iBook battery

Yes, Apple, like Dell got Sony to manufacture the batteries for their laptops and my 12″ iBook battery is affected. I went onto digg this afternoon and saw the headline “Apple to recall 1.8 million notebook batteries” and checked the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website. As you can see in the photo above, the serial number on my battery is on the recall list. There were 9 reports of overheating issues with consumers getting minor burns. I’ll admit that there were times my laptop got pretty hot, but it wasn’t enough to burn me. I would actually take my chances with this battery but if I’m able to get a new one for free…why not?

Looks like I will be getting reacquainted with my PC again for the next few weeks.

@tracy: If mine blew up, life would be sad for me from that point on :P

@Cloud.e: I know you purchased a Powerbook before I got my iBook, is its battery on the recall list too?

The key is to have them simultaneously blow up in Peter’s bag. Free fireworks!
