Abby’s Debut

Last night I joined my friends in celebrating Abby’s 18th Birthday at her debut. Abby is a friend I’ve known since high school and the party last night was really fun, thanks for having us Abby!

Anyways, one of the main features of the night were the dances. Originally Abby asked me if I wanted to get involved. I agreed but because of some scheduling issues I opted out. Near the end one of the members dropped out and I figured I owed her one so I joined two practices at the cost of missing work for two days which I could afford over the original schedule which was to miss 8 work days that I’m not sure someone could cover.

The first dance was the Cotillion Dance which was a complex waltz. Perhaps I found these dances difficult because it seems like I was born with two left feet when it comes to dancing other than DDR — if that even counts as dancing, it’s more like hopscotch really. I signed up for a YouTube account because it is the best way to share videos on the net. Below is the Cotillion Dance:

We also performed a second dance which was the Cha-Cha. It was simpler, but I think I made more mistakes on this one compared to the Waltz. By the way, I’m the dude in the far back that looks like a pen salesman just in case you can’t find out where I am in the video. It’s the same spot I was in for the Waltz. Thanks to Sue who was my dance partner in both dances, and the others for putting up with me and helping me out with the sequences of the moves, I probably wouldn’t have been able to learn all this stuff in two practices without your help!
